How can ALCOHOL be blamed for 100,000 deaths each year?
  (The following are in some way related to consumption of Alcohol)
5% of all deaths from diseases of the circulatory system: alcohol
30% of all accidental drownings: alcohol
30% of all suicides are attributed to alcohol.
30% of all deaths from accidents caused by fire and flames: alcohol
40% of all deaths due to accidental falls are attributed to alcohol.
45% of all deaths in automobile accidents are attributed to alcohol
60% of all homicides are attributed to alcohol.

     Hello!  I'm CounselorDave, the WebMaster of this Site!  AKA: David R Carroll, CADCA, Retired!  I'm a Recovering Addict of 16 years.  I am 62 years old and 1st used Alcohol at age 11. Smoked Pot at 12, Benzedrine at 13, Seconal, Crystal Meth, Hashish at 15, Cocaine at 18, Heroin, Opium, LSD, PCP, at 19, Crank at 31.  1st used Intravenously at 21, after that I added any drug that came my way, I used continuously until I was 45 years old.  I had a 6 year Cocaine habit, "3 year Alcohol habit", 9 year Crank habit, and of course I always mixed whatever was around, in there!  I graduated from high school in 1967.  I was in the Navy from 1967 to 1971; Honorable Discharge, though I used the whole time!  And, I was a Pipefitter-RigWelder for 13 years.  I was a Drug Addict bum for 5 years.  I was in Jail many times, the last sentence began on Jan. 21, 1995.  I did that time clean.  My true Sobriety Date is Mar. 24, 1995 (1/2 beer on 3,23,95).  I entered rehab at the VA Hospital, Fresno, CA, April 11, 1995.  I went back to school in 1998 and between that time and 2005.  I obtained an Office Skills certification from the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, and a CAADAC counseling certification from Cal-State University Bakersfield, CA.  I have been a counselor since 2000.  I believe that "I have just qualified myself to safely make the statement" that unequivocally: ALCOHOL is the MOST DANGEROUS DRUG, period!!!  The physiological damage is unparalleled by any other drug except maybe PCP.  This is not to say that chemicals that are or have been considered drugs cannot do more damage.  Chemicals aren't so widely consumed as illicit drugs!  Alcohol use not only endangered me but also the innocent people around me, especially when Driving!
